Narrow Escapes comes to UKTV Yesterday
Yesterday is to screen a new 13x60 minutes series Narrow Escapes of World War Two from World Media rights. This will premiere on the UKTV network in the UK in September 2011.
Continuing the theme of its Spirit of the 1940s programming, Narrow Escapes of World War Two tells the real stories of courageous operations against impossible odds.
Subjects include the raid on Amiens when a force of Mosquito aircraft flew ten feet above the ground of occupied France to bomb the walls of Amiens prison and liberate resistance members who were about to be executed.
The film interviews the only surviving pilot on that raid, Maxwell Sparks.
Other actions include Operation Pedestal where the master of the tanker Ohio, Dudley Mason, received the George Cross for resupplying Malta in the face of continuous submarine and air assaults all the way from Gibraltar.
